Asics Running Shoes
The Asics Corporation, headquartered in Japan are probably the leading running shoe company in the world. They are primarily focused on the running shoe market, but do make shoes for other sports. They do consider themselves to be a sports shoe company whereas some of their competitors, such as Nike probably could be more considered an apparel company. Asics have an active in house research and development unit and continue to be one of the more innovative companies in the running shoe market. Asics is actually an acronym for the Latin phrase “anima sana in corpore sano” which means “a sound mind in a sound body“.
The Asics running shoes come in various models to cater for the wide diversity of runners. All running shoe companies make their running shoes this way. Asics have Gel Kayano for the runners that run the higher distances and have a mildly pronated foot or lower arch and need a shoe for that as well as need the cushioning. The Asics Gel Nimbus is for the serious runner who has a normal foot structure or maybe a higher than normal arch structure and needs a running shoe with excellent cushioning properties. The Gel Cumulus is also designed for the underpronating runner as well.
Other Asics running shoes include the Gel DS Trainer which is somewhat of a minimal running shoe and is designed as an alternative to a racing shoe that is lightweight but still provide some reasonable amounts of cushioning and stability. The Gel Fortuitude is one of the better Asics running shoes for impact protection.
