Master Cleanse, An Experiment
I stumbled upon the master cleanse program while looking for more info on fasting, it appears to be a very popular one and is considered pretty solid. Some of you may remember it as the same ‘diet’ Beyonce used to lose a few pounds for Dreamgirls.
After reading the reactions of others on the internet to the cleanse I found it very encouraging and also informative of what it truly takes to complete. I contacted a few people about their experiences with the master cleanser and some did not get past day 2 or 3 which appears to be where most stumble. I’ve fasted in the past and never could last without eating at all as most fasts require. Technically, being a juice fast the lemonade diet does offer some sustenance (the lemonade drink used for the cleanse is also why it is called the lemonade diet by some.)
The premise is simple, but simple does not equal easy.. Though the guidelines are few, the will power necessary to succeed is another thing altogether. Luckily I came across a book that gives you lots of tips and tricks to make the Master Cleanse a much smaller challenge.
It is hyped a lot for the weight loss one can achieve but I’m not over-weight so that is not why I am interested in it. I did it for the toxin cleansing benefits. I felt really tired and sluggish lately and enough people have told me how much better they feel after a fast that I went for it once more.
From what I’ve been reading the typical amount of time spent on the master cleanse diet is ten days, although it is not uncommon for people to stay on the cleanse for longer periods of time. I decided to commit to only 5 days to see how I reacted. Considering I never made it past 2 days before that was quite an accomplishment.
With the secrets book as my guide I was able to look up issues and find answers to questions that enabled me to stick with it. Knowing it was there with answers gave me a lot more confidence going into the cleanse. The extra confidence surely led to my success.
Another good thing was the timing was perfect as I had recently spoken with my doctor about fasting. I strongly urge anyone interested in trying any kind of fast to speak with their doctor first to make sure everything is OK before diving in.
The final verdict: I feel much better after the 5 days and I am considering doing it again. Next time I will shoot for the full ten days. One tip I can give you is to not jump right back into your old diet, especially if you have a bad McDonald’s habit. You will get excellent guidance on how best to handle that.)
